PREFACE
On the initial initiative of one of the leading IECG members REBEL 8.0
will support chess by email. We will give you now a detailed summery what
is inside the program.
The main principle is simple:
1) REBEL will output (any) of your email games to a text file which contains
a general form + all needed info to send your move to your opponent.
2) When you receive a new move from your opponent REBEL will read the form
and stores (on request) all information into the database.
The following example shows you what REBEL will output:

Remarks on the form...
1) Only the first time of a game you have to input the key received by
your email organization YOURSELF. The second time REBEL knows the key
while it is stored in the database. If you only play games with some
of your chess friends simply enter an unique number or name which
enables Rebel to recognize and separate all your games.
2) EMAIL WHITE and EMAIL BLACK are optional. Here you can enter
your own email address and the one of your opponent. Also this is one time
job pro game because REBEL will remember it.
3) The game played sofar is automatically included in the form in
standard PGN notation.
4) The diagram is optional, in REBEL you can choose if you want it written
to the textfile or not.
Reading the form...
When you receive a move from your opponent, you simply import the received
textfile with REBEL. You will have the following possibilities:
1) READ ONLY The game is only loaded in the chessprogram (ready
for analysing or whatever), afterthat you can
save the game in the normal way.
2) IMPORT IN DATABASE as (1) but with automatic save in the database too.
3) IMPORT & REWRITE as (1) and (2) but the OLD game is automatically
deleted! The old game is searched in the database
(checks on GAME KEY + white & black name).
If found it will be deleted and the newer game is
inserted (very handy!).
The comfort (the technical part) (1)
REBEL 8.0 has two new functions in the Pulldown menu called:
1) WRITE EMAIL FORM with the following submenus:
WITH DIAGRAM
WITHOUT DIAGRAM
2) LOAD EMAIL FORM with the following submenus:
READ ONLY
IMPORT IN DATABASE
IMPORT & REWRITE
The comfort (the technical part) (2)
While you send and receive so many emails special care is taken for all
file handling. WRITE EMAILFORM will for example write your
upcomimg email to the following SUGGESTED filename(s):
96_06_24.001 or 96_06_24.002 etc. etc.
Where "96_06_24" is todays date and "001" and "002" are todays follow ups!
In this case all your email is FULLY sorted and easy to search for.
If you do not like this system you simply can type a filename yourself!
The comfort (the technical part) (3)
ALL items of the form are written to the database so information is kept and
can be viewed at any time you need it, meaning:
GAME KEY
